A few years back, I had read “Man with a pan.” The book, authored by John Donohue, talked about fathers, their stories and their favourite recipes. Though I am not new to the kitchen, pots, and pans, cooking can be daunting. I do love cooking. My friends can vouch for that. It’s not only the aroma of spices, steaming gravy, and delicious curry that compels me to cook, but the look of “happy and satisfied” on my guests’ faces after a sumptuous meal makes me go back to the kitchen to have an adventure with another recipe. In the pre-pandemic era, we always had big gatherings at our place. My wife, Pratima, and I spend a lot of time planning for any party. It looked more like a revisiting project management class. The array of dishes laid out on the dinner table go through a complete project lifecycle. We always joked about how selective we are about our dishes. Pratima, a perfectionist, follows a recipe line-by-line from a cookbook while I follow my instincts, nose and taste buds. No wonder her food always tasted better than mine. Both of us love cooking…
THE KAPAR KITCHEN…
In our family, cooking has become much more like an adventure; everybody joins and contributes. Everyone loves to perform his best in the culinary theatre — our kitchen. Sparsh loves making apple clafouti, while Sudu conjures up desserts, and Sunnie, the youngest one, is the supervisor of our kitchen and is willing to help anyone though he loves making breakfast. Sunnie dreams of becoming a chef, and he plans to open a restaurant one day.
This page is dedicated to the adventures that I had while I spent my time in the kitchen.
